First year done? If you like sport, it’s time to pitch a switch

There’s nothing quite like getting through your first year of uni.

At the end of Year 12 there is the big build up to exams, then nails bitten waiting for results, then nails given no time to grow back as you wait on an offer, then you still have the exiting but slightly nerve-wracking moment you step onto campus for your first class. Lots of nerves, lots of excitement, lots of firsts.

But when you finish first year, it’s pretty much a long hot Summer stretching out in front of you and a few extra shifts in between beach, mates and some down time.

Just before you hang up your study brain for the year, though, it’s time to consider whether you are happy in your current course. If you are, then BRILLIANT! Pick up a drink with an umbrella in it, find a mate with a pool, and set aside this story, you need to read no further.

Because if you are happy in your course, you have another two great years to look forward to – and no-one wants to get in the way of that.

On the other hand, the national QILT student experience survey, which takes in thousands of responses from across the country, shows that around 1 out of every 4 students are not happy with their course each year and almost 30% are not happy with student support.

If you see yourself in the less than happy group, it’s time to talk.

Many students who are not happy with their lot feel that they are not the right fit for their uni. Some feel lost amidst the tens of thousands of students on campus, some don’t know who to ask for help (other than ChatGPT) and some are just not enjoying the way their course is being taught – among many reasons.

If you love sport and are looking for a course where you could potentially start second year studying in small classes, with teachers and support staff who know your name and proactively follow you up, then it’s worth considering a switch to ACPE.

While we have been operating for more than a century, we have maintained a clear focus on sport-related courses, provided by really committed, engaging lecturers, with support staff who will reach out to you every few weeks, rather than wait for you to reach out to them. We don’t claim to be the right fit for everybody, but if you are looking for a sports-related degree driven and designed with industry, and exceptional employment opportunities, then give us a call.

If your course aligns, you could be starting second year at Australia’s specialist sports education institution, right in the heart of Sydney’s Olympic precinct.
